About Me
Who I Am
I’m Hubert Kalinowski — a builder focused on turning messy, real-world systems into something clear, durable, and scalable.
My journey as a builder began in 2003 when I assembled my first toy set, and my perspective expanded when I launched One Brick Road, a global e-commerce business I built and operated end-to-end. Running it forced me to confront the realities of operations, margins, and decision-making under constraint.
Those experiences shape how I design systems, tools, and operating frameworks today.
Why I Build
I bootstrapped One Brick Road to learn end-to-end ownership by building operations across sourcing, logistics, unit economics, and customer experience.
I’m particularly motivated by identifying structural leverage. At One Brick Road, margin concentration quickly emerged in the data: a minority of SKUs produced the majority of contribution. That drove how I simplified the catalog, allocated attention, and designed the operating model.
What I’ve Built
In just one year, I scaled One Brick Road to 8,500 units sold across 7,200 orders, serving customers in every U.S. state and over a dozen countries. From negotiating with global suppliers to building custom analytics tools, I wore every hat — and learned what it takes to build systems that last.
What I’m Focused On Now
I’m currently in the process of deciding where I can work alongside experienced operators and continue developing my instincts for building systems, frameworks, and operational tools.

Beyond My Work
I’m usually in the middle of a new obsession — teaching myself to DJ, perfecting a recipe, or exploring a project that catches my imagination. I thrive on building things that bring a little more joy, surprise, or simplicity into everyday life.
